Instructors:

Jennifer Kim,  Associate Conservator at the Autry National Center

Erin Jue, Assistant Conservator at LACMA

Jennifer Kim and Erin Jue will present a practical workshop on how to prepare for an exhibition with an emphasis on prepping objects and preservation issues.  A morning lecture will be followed by an afternoon practicum that will allow students to make their own book mounts and display stands.

Jennifer is currently an Associate Conservator at the Autry National Center, a medium-sized institution with a heavy exhibition schedule.  Erin Jue is an Assistant Paper Conservator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, a large institution with constantly rotating large and small exhibition spaces.  Before working at their current positions, both Erin and Jennifer worked with archival collections at the Huntington Library and the Margaret Herrick Library, AMPAS, respectively.

Who should attend:

Designed for a wide array of backgrounds, the workshop will be geared towards individuals who are interested in learning the practical side of putting together an exhibition, including scheduling, assembling a checklist, and installing artwork.  A hands-on afternoon lab will allow participants to create their own mounts and cradles.  Please bring a pocket-size book and a photograph or post-card sized image with you. The workshop will be limited to 12 participants so please register ASAP to secure your spot.

Registration fee includes cost of supplies for afternoon practicum and light refreshments.

Parking at Payson Library is free.

Registration open until April 15th
