Web 2.0 Workshop
Mark your calendars! Demystifying and adopting Web 2.0 technologies in the archivesAre you interested in using Web 2.0 tools in your archives? Are you wondering if they are relevant to your work? Do you think that all these new "cool" tools will be difficult to master? This workshop provides archivists with an overview of "classic" and emerging Web 2.0 tools and techniques. Hands-on training will help attendees to gain experience effectively implementing these tools at work. Learn how to use emerging technologies to boost your productivity, network with colleagues, promote your institution, showcase archival collections, display digital objects, generate metadata, solicit user reviews, etc.

Polina E. Ilieva, CA is a Project Archivist at UCSF responsible for the multimedia collection of the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library. Prior to that she worked at the Hoover Institution Archives where she was also in charge of the archival web projects. Polina holds Ph.D. in History and Certificate in Internet Design and Technology.

Jill Okamura is the Instruction Librarian at Fullerton College where she runs the instructional program, including credit library courses, workshops, student research instruction sessions, and online tutorials. She is currently developing a research guide wiki that incorporates embedded instant messaging, web-based slide presentations and videos, social bookmark links, and customized search engines. Additionally, Fullerton College Library has created a blog to promote the library's small archive collection and to elicit descriptions of images, and the staff are experimenting with a customizable toolbar, promotional videos, a staff wiki, and an instant message reference service.

Attendance is limited to the first 24 valid registrants. All registrants after the first 24 will be placed on a waiting list. If/as openings occur those on the waiting list will be notified.
