Introduction to Electronic Records

This day-long workshop provides an introduction to electronic records and an overview of their management according to archival principles through a combination of presentation, exercises, and discussions.

Designed for technology novices, the morning session is devoted to an extensive review of the definitions and roles of data, documents, files, software, media, hardware and networks; the presentation is supplemented by hands-on exercises.  The morning session sets the stage for the afternoon discussion of appraisal and accession, arrangement and description, as well as preservation and access of digital material.  We will close out the day by reviewing additional resources and tools to help you get to the next stage of learning on the topic.
