Check Yourself: Auditing Your Workflow With the Accessioning Best Practices

Tuesday, April 14, 2026

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time)

NOTE: Registration to AGM is not required to attend the pre-conference workshops.

Workshop Description:
The recently published Archival Accessioning Best Practices is the first official set of professional best practices on archival accessioning published in the United States. It provides recognition, support, and validation for individuals and organizations performing accessioning labor, and encourages more efficient and effective accessioning work throughout the archival profession. This workshop will provide a brief overview of the best practices and introduce attendees to a helpful auditing tool to assess their organization’s accessioning workflows. A group activity will offer the chance to interact with the best practices, the auditing tool, and other archival practitioners who engage with accessioning work. Questions are encouraged and attendees will leave with resources to keep them connected to the tools and colleagues they have been introduced to in this workshop.

Please forward any questions or comments to Rob Strauss and Gillian Goldberg at educationcommittee@calarchivists.org.

The cost is $60 for SCA members and non-members; and $40 for student members or unemployed/precariously employed individuals. Registration is limited to 50 participants.
